This place is living and breathing
It changes and it and it gets good and it turns bad. There are people, real people on those keyboards. What can you expect? I think the base here is solid and has "matured" over the last year.(I know that I have) If the Regulars and others would stop from responding and building 50+ threads over some stupid post things will get better. I am proud not to have participated in the last "Locked " thread (a first !) I will do my part I love this board and the Beta Boyz are on VH1 tonight love that band!

I'm one of those guys that came forth in the "Newbie Thread" and like CMAG, come here religiously. Mostly for the wealth of information available, but also just to get a good laugh at some of the humorous posts.

For me this by far the best forum I've ever seen. That is until recently! In total agreement with CMAG's statement "Some seriously gigantic jack asses have made their presence known" it would appear that there is a serious effort underway to ruin this forum.

Its funny how these guys show up just when Matrox comes out with a card that seriously threatens all others. Is the competition that scared!

Whatever!! The idea floating around about ignoring them sounds good to me.

C'mon Cmag, there's no point in running just because the going is a little tough. Let me tell you a little story...

Back in July last year, I discovered this great BBS - it had polite people in it and a healthy dose of intelligence. They were days of optimism because the G200 hadn't been released, but we'd all read previews from place's like the then almost reliable Tom's Hardware. The G200 was going to be great. It wasn't going to be a Voodoo 2 killer, but as the then great Tom put it, it would be within 15% which was outrageous for a 2d/3d card. There was no such thing as TNT at the time, it was just so much vapourware. Then the G200 was released and the clamour reached fever pitch. Everyone with a K6 was busy trying to get 2x AGP, myself included. All the Intel people were trying (very politely) to persuade us that the P2 was the only way. There was no Celeron A with its 128k cache, just AMD or huge expense.

Then the OpenGL problems started to surface. The idiots like AdanaC and sef255 floated to the fore. And TNT owners trying to persuade us that frames per second meant more than eye strain, even if you did use a big monitor and only played the occasional game. Man, there were times when this forum was a battlefield and admitting you liked your G200 was considered flame-bait. At one time, Ant nearly shut the site down because he was having trouble finding work. And more OpenGL whiners appeared.

Through from those hopeful days of light when the G200 first arrived, through the darkest days of TNT fanatacism and Quake II players, a whole bunch of us have made it through. Most importantly, Ant made it through (one day I'll get to buy you a pint, Ant). But so many of us have survived that it's almost silly to give up on the board now. We need you to help us with all the G400 and Matrox first-timers who are about to hit the site.

Cmag: Wish you'd stay around. After all, if all of us of goodwill leave in disgust, who gets the forum but those pigs (and they don't deserve it!) You/we built it and we're doggone well gonna keep it!

Ant: 'A nasty piece of work when you want to be', huh? Ooooh, baby, I'm scared a'that !

Well said Arron. I remember those days very well myself, being called a liar and an idiot just because I like the G200.
