Problem with Direct X setup error - info needed

About as much as error #4 I get from any d3dsetup??? I don't know, but what you could try is to install DX6core.exe before DX6.1 core & DX6.1-enduser...

It worked for me on some games & apps using a dedicated d3dsetup.

Now all I have is a mysterious message about my registry, where it doesn't find a 'Name' value... whatever that may be

This error drove me mad for a while. The reason is SE has a newer version of Direct X 6.1 already built in.

Problem with Direct X setup error - info needed


I have reinstalled Win 98 SE after having too many problems with PD5.13 and have put the old 4.51 drivers back on but when I install Direct X 6.1 it installs the drivers but instead of saying that the drivers are installed it comes up with " DirectX setup error -14" Does anybody know what this error is for? It is on a clean version of Win 98SE with only the 4.51 drivers installed. This is my usual setup and I have never had this error before when installing Direct X 6.1 Why would this error suddenly appear for no reason? Does anyone know what error -14 is?
