  • PD 5.13/Mystique G200 16 Meg - jerky D3D. Haig?

Hello, everybody! I saw several posts from people regarding speed of PD 5.13 drivers in DirectX games. Some people got a nice boost and some got slowdowns. I run Celeron 300A@464 ( 100 % stable ), Abit BH-6, 128 MB ram, Mystique G200/16 Mb, DirectX 6.1. Without measuring frame rates, PD 5.13 causes jerkiness in ReVolt demo, Colin McRae rally, etc. Switching back to 4.26 or 4.51 brings back smooth display. Are the drivers hardware optimized? SDRAM vs. SGRAM, or 8 Mb vs. 16? Any comments anybody?

Forgot, I run 800x600 in 16 bit mode.

    Hi Russkie

When I first installed PD 5.13 I too got that D3D stuttering. Formatting the hard drive and doing a clean install of win98 and PD 5.13 cured it. Well but that was before the uninstaller was released by Matrox. Give it a try and reinstall PD 5.13.

Also make sure you don“t have any apps running in the backgound and see if the stittering persists. Those internet&download managers are the main suspects. I use to have netmedic installed and removing it solved a stuttering problem I had (but that was a long time ago).

    Hope this helps.

Thanks, Nuno! I am not certain I am up to a clean install of Win 98 and all other programms I have on HD. I will try PD 5.13 again after a defrag and scandisk.
