Sick and tired of trying to get PD5.13 to work...

Ok guys this is why 5.13 wouldn't work with my G200. With either 8MB or 16MB memory on my G200 after I installed 5.13 this is what the adapter page would show.

Now 4.51 would work but it would show 16Mbits memory. For some reason 5.13 wouldn't recognize the card so the Powerdesk features didn't work.

When I got my G400 I did a test to check my system out. With the G200 still in I installed the 5.13 drivers which of couse didn't work. I then swapped out the G200 with the G400 and it recoginized the new card and has worked wonderfully since. So I have eliminated any problems with my system and have narrowed it down to a problem with my G200. Also for some reason the 4.xx drivers still worked with the G200 or at least recognized the card as a G200 where the 5.13 don't.

to Haig : i normally use Win95B (OSR2 patched with the usb patch ) and it had PD 4.51 installed previously.
But this happend also with a fresh install of Win98 ...
other drivers i use are the triones IDE bus master drivers along with the gigabyte 6BXE mobo .. this is common for Win98 and 95b..for win95 i have alsothe BX chipset patch ..and DX6.1 core on both. i tried installing DX6.1 eng too ..same problem ..My monitor is MAG DX1495 PnP
this happens if i use a PnP monitor in windows monitor of if i use the inf file of the monitor ..
yesterday i found that :
1. booting windows with monitor turned off and then back on makes the monitor settings tab to show up (when this page shows up .. it has a big delay to open) ( in the normal monitor tab of windows it shows an unknown monitor )
2.now i go to custumize my monitor in the monitor settings page .. i selected a vesa1280@60 Hz as Mag DX1495 isn't there ..
then it askes to save .. i save .. and then save the custum file.
3. every thing is ok now .. refresh of higher than 60 Hz is available ..
4. i go to the monitor tab of windows .. i change the monitor to PnP monitor .. and before i leave the advanced settings and hit ok .. i go back to the matrox monitor settings ... do the same adjustments and save it again ..i hit apply or ok (whatever ) then ok again and here i am ... the settings are saved .. but the matrox monitor settings tab dissapear again .. only this time with my monitor runnig at 75 Hz ..
5. another note in the adapter page i only have 2 options for refresh rate : adapter default and optimal .. they are both at 60 Hz ( normally they should be different with previous drivers and with any other card i used before .. and there should be other refreshes too .. 60 72 ..75 etc )
6. under the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Class\Display\0000\settings\monitor i found something like enable GTF or something like that ( i'm on 4.51 drivers now .. can't remember ) it was at default "1" .. i changed it to "0" .. dunno what's this key for .
7. all of the above DO happen in both 95b and 98.
8. it looks like there's a war bet. the monitor settings of windows and the matrox ones .. as soon as windows detects the monitor .. the matrox monitor page dissapear.
i tried the uncheck the box " always detect PnP monitors " but Windoze STILL detect it .. dunno why.
sorry for the long post .. i wanted to clear it all.

whatever the situation is .. PD 5.13 was a real nightmare for me
leaveing away the display settings stuff .. it didn't show any increase of performance in OGL or D3D ( except 4 fps increase at only 640x480x16 in q2 and ONLY when the card is overclocked !! about 10 % increase for one one res. at 112.5 core )
a side note before anyone asks .. the above problems happens when the card isn't overclocked ..
