Q2 & G400MAX settings?

Hi,

I was wondering what settings I should use for Quake2 (config.cfg / autoexec.cfg) and my G400 MAX. And incidentally does anyone know what settings people use when conducting tests & reviews, like Sharky's & Anand's?

Incidentally, on my P2-400, 128MB, G400 MAX, and "default" Q2 settings w/ OGL @ 640x480, I'm getting 60fps on demo1 & 30fps on crusher. Dunno if that's good or not.

That's the big problem with using Q2 as a benchmark. There are so many different variables, and nobody ever says exactly what they're using. It's worthless to keep relying on this game as a benchmark.

For playing the game...firt off, what drivers are you using? If you haven't yet, get the 5.13 drivers from murc or matrox. Next, turn the resolution UP UP UP. The G400 does not like low resolutions. Go to at least 1024x768, if not higher. There is no speed loss between 640 and 1024 with the current drivers. I personally find the game playable at 1600x1200 (although the text is mighty small ).

and make yerself a config, based on whatever your preferances are. The card can handle maximum visual settings on every option, and still be more than playable. If you want to sit around and watch crusher demos all day, turn some options off to boost yer fps
