• G400 on 464a celeron?!

Many people are very concern about G400 performance on celery and so am I.

Have anyone done head-to-head testing about p2-450 and celeron 450A on G400?
Is there difference and if there is, will new drivers give more speed to Celeron owners?

Thanks,
Micko

The best thing for anyone who is worried about this is to rely on the facts. Those facts can be found from www.3DMark.com.

Run a 3DMark99 on your current configuration and then go there to compare. They probably don't have much G400 results yet, but I hope that every decent person with one will submit their results to the database. Right?

Please do this. Otherwise we'll have these 'concern' threads like this for every CPU and chipset combination..

Make hey,

Maybe I was little too specific (look topic), but my real "concern" is G400 weakness on Celerons and that is BIG thing, because many of us have O'Cd 300a celerons...

The closest comparison I could do would be a PII@500 and a Celery@464. Would that be good enough?

Cheers,

Steve

Hi Steve,

Could you also please submit them to the database? They would serve their purpose there long after this thread is dead.

Hi Micko !

Don't be scared

Actually the performance is quite impressive:

640x480x16bpp

3DMark Result : 4.501 3DMarks
Synthetic CPU 3D Speed : 5.066 CPU 3DMarks
Rasterizer Score : 2.642 3DRasterMarks
Game 1 - Race: 43,9 FPS
Game 2 - First Person: 46,1 FPS
Fill Rate : 238,0 MTexels/s
Fill Rate With Multi-Texturing : 241,4 MTexels/s
2MB Texture Rendering Speed: 455,7 FPS
4MB Texture Rendering Speed: 364,8 FPS
8MB Texture Rendering Speed: 246,0 FPS
16MB Texture Rendering Speed: 179,7 FPS
32MB Texture Rendering Speed: 132,3 FPS
Bump Mapping Emboss, 3-pass: 143,4 FPS
Bump Mapping Emboss, 2-pass: 182,9 FPS
Bump Mapping Emboss, 1-pass: 291,5 FPS

I admit that my Cel300A is a bit over 464MHz ... 504MHz to be precise, but I think the difference won't be too big

Forgot to mention:

71.1 FPS in Q2 Timedemo 1 @ 1024x768x16bpp ain't too slow either
