I am planning to buy a G400 Max as soon as i can. One of my interests is watching DVD Movies. I would like to know if i will be able to get Surround Sound. (I already have installed a Creative 5x DVD, and SBLive Value connected to a Dolby Prologic Decoder)

Hey Kruzin, how much were those two 56K USR modems you have? Does your modem drop the main line when a phone call comes in, or do you just turn off call waiting?
What is the ISP that supports multilinking?
Any additional charges?

My internal Sportsters cost about 100 bucks each. My local ISP supports multiple connects, for an extra 20buck/month.
You can disconnect one modem to make calls, and fire it up again without ever disconnecting. I don't have call waiting (never could stand it)

Most ISPs don't notice if you connect to them twice with the same account. I wouldn't say don't 'care' cos obviously they do. But, I have used MSN (when NOT using their dialler, but using dial-up-networking), BTInternet and others with no probs using the same account.
Officially, speak to you ISP, and they will charge you a little extra for the priviledge.
Cheers,
Steve

I have roughly the same setup, I did see an option you have to check called 'Send AC3 to SPDIF'. It's kind of week that you can't get AC3 decoded to the Lives 4 speakers output. If the DVD player actually Decoded and sent multichannel sound compatible with D3D the end result would be a 4 channel version of AC3. Cheaper, I guess most people that into it will just plug in a AC3 reciever via the Coax digital output.

A good program that goes along w/ the Cinemaster Software DVD player is DVD Region Selector. It allows you to change a bunch of settings- including SPDIF stuff.

ps- might want to write down the defaults. I've messed w/ stuff that has made playback worse.

"It's kind of week that you can't get AC3 decoded to the Lives 4 speakers output. "
I can get it with my Live! The options show "AC3, 16bit, 6channel, 48KHz", and I get very clear, distinct surround sound from my 4 speakers, hooked directly to the Live!

I have a SBLive, and an AC-3 receiver plugged into the SPDIF out. Are you saying I can get full AC-3 5.1 channel output using only the software decoder? That would be very sweet. Is it possible with the software that comes with the G400 (my MAX is coming in next week), or do I have to get a third party software decoder?

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. Bastard coated bastards with bastard filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive, bubble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine. -- Dr. Perry Cox
