  • I really need help here.. Serious

What's the transfer rate and bandwidth of the AGP bus?(Yeah 2x and 4x is just a matter of multilication -right?)
The logical bandwidth for AGP4x as I heard, is 2.8GB/sec. Is it just a division of 4 for AGP 1x?

How about PCI? I heard it operates at 33MHz and has a transfer rate of 66MB/sec.
    What's the bandwidth though?

Thanks for your help and I really need the info. I know this is real dumb.. and my bro is just simply not that happy that I'm using his nick, but, I really want the answers.

    Little Willy,

First, you don't really need this info as nothing important results from the bandwith of the particular interface, at least with the current technology.

Second, there are many sources of this kind of information on the internet, AGP spec being the very first of them (available from Intel). You may also find this information on my website, address in profile.

Could you please learn to read and search for the information you need. It would save you and many others a lot of time.

    Sincerely,
    Gregory

      Well.. That was a mistake.
A very bad one - I should had read the message more carefully.
      Sorry..

Hey for the other guy, thanks for the info.
Is transfer rate and throughput nearly the same? They sound like it for me.

Also, is the bandwidth of every interface(AGP/PCI) out there are nearly double of the throughput because of the 66MHz limitations?

      Thanks!! VERY MUCH!!

I have assume that you mean 2.8Gbps which sounds more right that GBps. Ask your brother what's the difference between them if you don't know.

"Is it just a division of 4 for AGP 1x?"
To my understanding yes, why? What possible gain you will be getting from this information? Please let me know 'cause this was so important.

Also point your general hardware questions to right forums. There's no need for you to be nosey if you don't get right answers to your questions of life at Matrox Hardware forums. You have a history of doing this you know.

[And it's quite lame to modify your messages after you have received replies!]
