    I have Cel466 on abit BE6 and G400 32MB (300Mhz), Toshiba DVD drive (6x).
****, my DVD picture is not moving smooth?????
    Where is the problem?

I tried different resolution and colors - no effect...

Too slow processor, can't be! HELP ME!
    Could it be configuration problem?

    My system:

ABIT BE6, Cel466, 128MB SDRAM, WD Expert 9.1GB, Matrox G400 32MB, SB Live Value, Toshiba DVD (6x/32x) etc...

I think the bottleneck could be the CPU utilization of the Toshiba drive. ATA/EIDE interface?

I have a Pioneer 6x SCSI and Celeron 450A. DVD movies are running silky smooth.

I do not know first hand, but I remember a post where someone turned there CD-ROM cache all the way down and it fixed this problem.
This is located on the performance tab in system properties. Click on the file system button and you should see the option.

              It is worth a shot.
Good luck. I have heard good things about the g400 DVD playback so I would suspect it is a config setting. You should only be utilizing about 35% of your processor.

                1. Make sure DMA is on for your hard drive and DVD drive.

                2. Download the DVD Region Selector and make sure the settings are optimized (divicore = cinemaster).

                3. Defrag your hard drive. Make sure there's some free space.

                4. Optimize your cd-cache. DirectControl lets you do this.

                5. Turn off all memory resident programs. And yes, you need all 400Mhz to run a DVD, sorry.

                I would still get screwed

His HD supports UDMA66 hd which the BE6 supports via 2 extra ide connectors. The problem is that with some motherboards, dma is never highlighted so this might be his problem. Or his hard drive is in UDMA 33 mode while connected to the 66 ide connector. Or it could be something else

One thing i've heard is that if you installed the original drivers... then the dvd player... and then updated to PD5.13...
that PD5.13 will overwrite the Cinemaster Drivers from 1.0.29 to 1.0.32. And that these newer cinemaster drivers have problems. Can anybody confirm this?

To fix this problem, all you would have to do is uninstall and reinstall the Matrox DVD player.

The problem was DMA! I turned it on in win98 system properties and now my DVD is very smooth! G400 RULES!
