  • Q3Test2 Benchmarking!! Post your scores!

    Hi!

I know that some people will say that this belongs in the gaming forum, but I will post here as this forum has the biggest crowd of posters, and it's a test of how well the new ICD runs. I'm DL'ing this baby now and will post my own G200 scores on this thread when it's done in about 2 hours (yawn). Feel free to post your own G200/G400 results here too.
Please include your system config as well for comparison. Like this:

    MGA G200 Mystique 8Mb bios ver. 2.3, PD 5.13
    PII-350 (not OC'ed)
    128 Mb SD-RAM
Abit BH6 mobo bios ver. JJ

All test done at max detail level with sound on! Running timedemo on the default map.

    Resolutions:

    16 bit colour, 16 bit Z-buffer:

    640*480 :
    800*600 :
    1024*768 :
    1600*1200 :

    32 bit colour, 16 bit Z-buffer:

    640*480 :
    800*600 :
    1024*768 :

    640*480 :

I didn't call you stupid, I said that it's stupidity to post threads to wrong places.. if there's any difference.

Better word would be ignorance though. And you're not the only one who has done this. Since this Matrox Hardware section is blooming and other ones are struggling for their existance, why not reach the whole audience by just posting here..

And this has been for a long time but just recently it's been growing to whole new dimension. Just browse some of those topic from the last 20 days. They would suit their purpose better in different sections.

I'm so close of posting my bicycle benchmarks, and a cry for GameBoy BIOS upgrade here..

There must be someone out there who agrees with me, is there?

I dont care, why dont post here when more people read this forum, instead of Matrox Gaming or some else?

However, maybe i´ll try to DL q3atest later, too slow now.

Burri, Yes you're right . What's the point in having different topics if people just put them under the most popular one?

Anyway, off for a game on TFC

                Buuri & co,

since when is benchmarking not relevant to Matrox Hardware habitués?
I´ve been around here for a while, and it seems to me benchmarks of various sorts have played a major roll in providing topics.

Game benchmarking is a different thing since it has no scientific value, and can vey well be pointed to gaming zone.

But that was not the whole point. I throw in "Uhh.. Win98 Problem: Help?", "MOTORHEAD and the G400" (which found it's wasy to Gaming tho), "G400 patch available for Aliens Vs Predator", "Q3Test Screen Shots", "HARDDRIVE HAS CRASHED !!!", "Hows this look?"... Do I need to say more?

My point is not to humiliate or flame these people, but I've said this kindly times before with no effect so far.

                    My motive?

I just happen to like this place and I'd like to see people to use it as it should. Is that so bad?

                      Buuri,

I don´t want to argue the relevance of your mild protest, I almost totally agree. Except for this benchmarking thing. Game benchmarking has no scientific value, you say. Well show me one benchmark that has! The point of BM, to me, is comparison and that can be as useful using Q3Test as anything else, (surely not worse than the hyped 3Dmark (yack!)) and there are not to many amusing OGL tests out.

But, as I said, apart from this I agree.

                        rubank,

Games only give you one value. There are donzens of things that affect that value, and no separation is given.
Good benchmarking programs are tried to build in a manner that you really bench your system in a way that will give reliable and comparable results. That's the main point in them.

Otherwise, thanks for agreeing. Especially when I'm Finnish..

That's what I love about this message board. Someone tries to post something meaningful so that people can post their benchmark results so that people can actually get some good information, and the thread goes off in some other useless direction, and nobody posts any results.
