Forced AGP2X/4X i don't think so...

I posted this in the matrox hardware forum because that's where i see people posting these terms the most. You cannot "Force AGP 2X/4X" because the resulting Bandwidth is based on a 66mhz bus frequency.

With AGP the following applies:

BusFrequency:1x 66mhz, 2x 66mhz, 4x 66mhz
Sampling Rate (per clock cycle): 1x 1, 2x 2,
4x 4 Bandwidth: 1x 66mhz, 2x 133mhz, 4x 266mhz Data Transfer Rate 1x 266mb/s, 2x 512mb/s, 4x 1gb/s

I think your slightly misunderstanding the term used.
The G200 does a test to see if the card can run reliable at agp x2. If it can't it sets the card to run at agp x1.
The card can be forced to run at AGP x2 by altering the registry settings.
Hence the term I forced the card to use AGP x2.
So in the end forced agp x2 should say I do think so.

well thanx Pit i can see how you could "Force AGP 2x" and if you can great... but some people are talking about bus frequency speeds being boosted to equivelate AGP 2x etc. just wanted them to be aware that could damage your card. My apologies for misleading the others.

No you have a valid point, Jutai - I've been trying to explain to people for some time that trying to turbocharge your AGP bus just isn't good. Nobody listens though... SIGH.

MY G400 runs perfectly @ 75MHz AGP2x DiME

I know, it's a bit above spec, but as long as I don't experience any problems, I just enjoy the upped performance.
