Does the G400 work on an overclocked system?

Hi!

I would like to know if the G400 Max work well on an overclocked system which is running on a 124 FSB speed.

Can anyone confirm this?

I should think so, I remember the disappointment when my new TNT wouldn't run at the same bus speed as my old G200. I couldn't even run at 100MHz FSB, later on I realsied that the jumper to switch AGP ratio from 2/3 to 1 didn;t work! I was running a G200 at 100MHz AGP speed with no problems the whole time!
It's all tomdo with the quality of hardware construction, something that is NEVER mentioned in reviews. Matrox make the highest quality electronic products, with exceptional tolerences. Although the MAX isn't the fastest by default, IO prefer it over the TNT2's, because the actual board manufacturers have never impressed me with their quality, especially Diamond and Creative.

Mine works fine at 112, but no dice at 124. And yet an old POS S3 PCI card does....
What we need is AGP bus speeds completely independant of the rest of the system bus.

BTW, that's an OEM G400, not a MAX

the be6 has a setting for agp ratio of 2/3 at this setting Im runnin 124 mhz x1/4 pci rock steady. Im still trying to get dvd to work but ogl and d3d are awesome .

Abit BE6 p3 450 @ 124mhz x 1/4 bus so cards arent overclocked. g4oo 32meg retail,

Everyone has stated how the G400 is much more reliable in fast systems than the G200 was, and my G200 is rock steady @ 89Mhz FSB...

PIII450 @ 600Mhz - 133Mhz FSB, 33.33PCI Bus, 89AGP Bus (runs @ forced AGP2x as well)

I've got a retail G400 non Max 32MB running in a Asus P2B-F with a P3 450 using a FSB of 129 to get 556Mhz. So far the G400 hasnt complained about it. I just ahd to force AGP2X manually but I havent had any stability problems. machine has been up for about 4 days (on windows, this is TRULY astounding).

I have also OC the G400 using G200clk from the default 252Mhz PLL to 280. I shall attempt to improve my cooling to go higher but I dont think it's gonna happen as if I leave the machine fof for a while to cool, then boot and imediatly try 281 it locks up. But this board is gonna be relegated to my NT box soon as I can get a Max anyways
