First off, here's my system:
Celeron 466, 128 Megs, G400 Single Head 32 Megs
When running benchmarks, the results i get for 640X480 and 800X600 are extremely similar.
Here's what Im getting
Rendering Platform Matrox Millennium G400 - English
Resolution 800*600
Color Depth 16-bit Color
Frame Buffer Triple buffering
Refresh Rate 84 Hz
CPU Optimization Intel(r) processor
3DMark Result 3117.63 3DMarks
Synthetic CPU 3D Speed 3936.82 CPU 3DMarks
Rasterizer Score 2101.29 3DRasterMarks
Game 1 - Race 30.84 FPS
Game 2 - First Person 31.53 FPS
Fill Rate 206.33 MTexels/s
Fill Rate With Multi-Texturing 207.70 MTexels/s
2MB Texture Rendering Speed 283.71 FPS
Now, when looking
4MB Texture Rendering Speed 222.22 FPS
8MB Texture Rendering Speed 152.18 FPS
16MB Texture Rendering Speed 113.69 FPS
32MB Texture Rendering Speed 71.05 FPS
Bump Mapping Emboss, 3-pass 93.64 FPS
Bump Mapping Emboss, 2-pass 118.47 FPS
Bump Mapping Emboss, 1-pass 193.04 FPS
Processor Type Intel Celeron A
Processor Speed 466 MHz
L1 Cache size 32 KB
L2 Cache size 128 KB
Physical Memory 128 MB
Now for 640X480:
Test My Project
Rendering Platform Matrox Millennium G400 - English
Resolution 640*480
Color Depth 16-bit Color
Frame Buffer Triple buffering
Refresh Rate 84 Hz
CPU Optimization Intel(r) processor
3DMark Result 2985.67 3DMarks
Synthetic CPU 3D Speed 3754.39 CPU 3DMarks
Rasterizer Score 2142.55 3DRasterMarks
Game 1 - Race 29.79 FPS
Game 2 - First Person 29.92 FPS
Fill Rate 196.72 MTexels/s
Fill Rate With Multi-Texturing 199.27 MTexels/s
2MB Texture Rendering Speed 351.60 FPS
4MB Texture Rendering Speed 279.80 FPS
8MB Texture Rendering Speed 191.49 FPS
16MB Texture Rendering Speed 139.61 FPS
32MB Texture Rendering Speed 93.07 FPS
Bump Mapping Emboss, 3-pass 119.69 FPS
Bump Mapping Emboss, 2-pass 152.40 FPS
Bump Mapping Emboss, 1-pass 235.84 FPS
In this case the 640X480 scores are actrually LOWER than 800X600 but usually they are almost identical.
I have attached a pentium cooler onto the heatsink and have tried overclocking with the Powerstrip GX (which does give noticable gains in performance) but these tests are done at the vanilla clock speed. I am also using driver version: 4.11.01.1130 and bios 1.3-02. Power Desk Ver:5.13.020
If anyone can help me, I'm wondering why the scores are the way they are...even when running games (Q2, Mortyr demo, etc) i notice no performance change when switching from 640 to 800. Is there anything I set up wrong? Or maybe I got a lemon of a card?
If possible, please email me at astein03@hotmail.com with any advice or reach me on AOL IM at Pooter03.
