Have any problems been found with the VESA core on the G400? I know that we can use a software utility to sort that out - but what is the out-of-box support like for VESA DOS games and the like (Millenium 2 support was sometimes pretty poor)

Who plays DOS games still? Who uses DOS apps that require VESA?
Everyone who goes 'me' will have hard times with Windows2000, that I can guarantee.
I think VESA support is totally irrelevant in new hardware. If you need it, use your old adapter.

Some people still like to have compatibility with older games - I was only asking because I hate having to play around with TSR when using software VESA emulation. I'm just asking what the G400 is like using older DOS games. Has anyone else tried it yet?

Well, I didn't mean to be rude, but your games won't work on W2K anymore. That's the way it goes - hell it doesn't even support 3D-only adapters!

I don't see anything in the original posting about W2K, so why are you bringing it up? Many people will be giving W2K a pass until it is a proven stable product, not a half baked BETA as it currently is.

To answer the original question, VESA support is excellent. I am a financial planner and use one DOS application (currently doing due diligence for replacement Win98 compatable software).
This application runs off of the old Novell QuattroPro for DOS, and is about the most finiky when it comes to VESA support. The G400 (and G200 for that fact) are the only ones that can run it in WYSIWYG. ATi cards need a TSR. The rest (guess that leaves Nvidia, huh), can't run it at all.
Just got through playing Dark Forces w/ no problems.
