The 5.20 figures from matrox users looks even better with 70 fps in demo1.dm2 in 1024x768x32.

The explaination why Quake 3 doesn't run any faster is that the Matrox driver developers are currently simply trying to enhance performance for those functions used by Quake 2. After that hopefully Quake 3 Arena.
