G400 and no TechDemo (Maggie, Jorden, Kruzin, Haig) !!!

Hi,

tried to get the TechDemo running for a few hours. The Demo starts, menue is o.k. and if I try to start the demo itself, it starts loading and stops at about half the way !! At first tried to start it at different Windows Resolutions and colour depths (from 640x480 - 1024x768 with 16 to 24 to 32 Bit). Nothing helped. Now tried to modify the TechDemo`s cfg.file. Changed to 800x600 with different settings of rendering depths. Then I set my AGP aperture size from 128 MB to 64 MB. Nothing changed. OS is fresh installed after format c: !

I couldn't get the Tech Demo to work for me either until I disabled DualHead. With it set on DualHewad Multi-Display, it definately would not work (verified twice). I didn't try it with DualHead Clone, DVDMax or Zoom though.

i and an friend of me have got the same prob..we have got an G400 16 MB AGP and the tech demos hangs up by loading the demo...by the way in the 3D mark 99 benchmark in 16 MB AGP rendering it crashes too..i think the cards are damaged...think the 16 MB sgram are broken!!

what happens if you set your aperature size to 256?

If that doesn't help, can you post the matrox.cfg that's in the tech demo dir?

OK...i had the same problem...the only way i fixed it was a COMPLETE C:format in DOS and a fresh install of Win98. That is the only thing i found to work. I got a OEM G400 32 SH. Man i love this card...but it was the BIGGEST bitch to get working. Matrox needs to work on their compatiblity. Also make sure u are using DX 6.1 from the Marox CD.

Haig, hope that helps you. My Aperture Size is now 128 MB again and desktop is at 1024x768 @ 16Bit.

Btw. the card really looks great. If the Techdemo would run, I would be a completely satisfied matrox customer.

I´m back on monday morning and will at first check in here and see what has happened.

That was the log file, but nevermind. Are you short on diskspace? I guess you've re-installed the demo? Have you re-installed directx 6.1?
