  • Better get their ass in gear

Matrox seems to have about 50,000 Maxes on back order from just investingating some resellers. I give them to about next week before people start cancelling their orders in volume. Geez, you think after last year with the G200 being backordered so much too they would have expanded production greatly.

Glad I have the time to wait for my max

Matrox is not the problem. NEC who fabs the chips for Matrox are having a hard time keeping up with the demand.

NEC you say? well now they've had 3 months+ to do something about it. If they cannot increase the production reate anytime soon, the card will never be a profitmaker and matrox maybe will do the same thing as Canopus did; sign off and find simething else to do (Canopus had exactly the same problem).

The race is hard and 3D accellerator card products is appearing so fast that efficient production is very important. Just look at 3dfx, they're already on a beta T-Buffer chip dammit! (I'm a 3D artist and was very curious when high-quality antialiasing, motion blur and depth of field rendering came; in addition to the environmental bump mapping, of course ¦-) and Nvidia I'm sure is not resting either...

I belive it is very important for Matrox (in norway we say mattricks and mattrocks ¦-) to find some sort of solution, but that may be already too late.

      R.I.P.
