Dabs are NOT in my good books at the moment - they simply cannot keep up to their delivery promises. If it's for something critical and needs to be there on time, don't go through dabs. If you're prepared to wait a day or two for the items to be late, then they're fine.

Stevec gone back to 17 inch monitor yep the G400 makes up for it. The 19 inch is back in it's box and should be replaced by tomorrow.
      More weight lifting.
Yep Chris H the manufacture is replacing it one phone call a few laugths and there we go. I wish they'd come and pack it up though it's a right bastered taking down all those stairs.
When the monitor is up and running I'll start to see what I can get from the G400.

Can I leap to Insight UK's defence?
In my experience they are very helpful (they can make mistakes like anyone, but admit to them and don't challenge your computer knowledge).

In the first days of the Cyrix 200 Mhz chip (yeah a while ago :-) )they supplied a mboard/chip combo that didn't work together(they were still Choice Peripherals then) They changed both chip and mboard for different products without a qualm.

I've had a dead on arrival hard disk (are they expected to fire them all up?) new one back within 2-3 days.

I ordered a Princeton Presentation Monitor, the one that came wasn't quite the same spec we all (ie both me and Insight) thought it was, they immediately offered to take it back. I decided to keep it.

Other major points that make them a company to do business with:

their number is freephone... ie they pay for any time on hold

        they answer emails!!!

Actually they answer lots of forms of communications. Other companies take note...
        eg
Simply- I'm still waiting for my W98 free upgrade at work, I gave up waiting more than a year ago, got fed up writing emails that were ignored.

By the way, Insight keeps card details for our protection. Their software is designed to flag a card with an account, both with a person, and an address. If credit card details were compromised elsewhere, Insight has already logged that card to a person and an address and will block any attempts for anyone else to order stuff using your card.

Lifting a 19" monitor up/down stairs is not much fun

I've got a fault with my new Iiyama monitor, looks like i'll be lugging that around soon. (At least its only 17" )

The companies I've used in the last few years for purchasing computer bits:-

          Insight Direct (Choice Peripherals):- Good
          Dabs Direct :- Good.
Tech Direct :- Fairly Good, but they don't keep much stock, and their web site isn't up to much.
SMC Direct :- Fairly Good. Very helpful on the phone, but are expensive and web site stock levels are always wrong.

Why do so many companies have 'Direct' in their name?
