Who cares about new BIOS? I have never seen any difference when upgrading a Bios, new new features, no higher performance....

      Maxie,

Normally a (Matrox) bios upgrade is not for performance upgrades (it can be, but not usually). Most of the time the BIOS upgrades are developed to fix problems that other users with other configurations have had with the video cards in question. Now you may not have had the problem or problems described in the bios update release notes, but the fixes put into place may prevent a future problem you might have.

It is usually a good idea to upgrade the bios of any devices that are flashable to the latest revisions available.

Video Cards, SCSI Controllers, Motherboards, CDROM Writers, DAT drives and many many other wonderful devices all have flashable BIOSes (sometimes called firmware).

      There, said it, it's done.

I work with support on Dell Computers, and I can say that the Winmodems in DELL really sucks, they never work, and if they work they are SOOO SLOOOW.
I cant understand why they choose winmodems when there are so much problem with it.

            DOH!

Especially when I have one of those nice USB modems from 3Com U.S. Robotics - the ones that I had to buy, then be on a beta team to get drivers to make it even work!!!

Thanks for shaking up my memory!!!

Don't forget that the other reason Matrox releases new BIOS versions is because an upcoming driver will need it.

As far as I noticed on my G200/Celeron 333 overclocked to 415 (83x5) ocassionally problems with lack of red color are now gone with BIOS upgrade from version 2.3 to 2.6.

In the past I used to blame monitor for it ...
