  • Hey Guys! Guess who!!

    Howdy people!
I just thought that I'd drop in any see how everyone was doing. I've spent about three hours now reading through previous posts and can see that for the most part, things are getting back to normal. Except with the constant flaming of this poor little M&M guy. (Sorry Jorden, I know it's your trade mark, but I couldn't help myself.)
Well, I see that most of the old crowd is here, but where is Maggi? I haven't seen any posts from him. Did he spit? I sure hope not.
Anyway, down to business. I know that this topic has probably been beaten into the ground by now, but did anyone get the PD5.13 drivers working on the G200 or what? I just can't do it! I have tried absolutely every possible thing that I can think of. (Short of re-formatting my hard drive that is.) Here are a couple of the problems i'm having:

    1. Computer crashes about every 5-10 min. no matter what i'm doing.(unless i just don't touch it) And yes, this is a PROBLEM!
    2. I'm not getting all of the proper tabs under advanced in the Display Properties. (Missing Matrox Monitor tab)
    3. If I do manage to get something running before the system crashes (games I'm talking about here) the OGL just sucks! (Is this just my imagination?)
    4. I can't shut down my computer anymore. When I hit system shutdown, my computer crashes really badly.(Come to think of it, is there a good crash?)

    Here are my system specs:
    AMD-K6 400 o/c to 450 - D:4.5 Bus:100
128megs SDRAM - AGP App set to 128
POS no name mother board (Via chipset, Award Bios) And i already know, bad MB choice!
    Matrox G400 - 8megs ram. Not o/c right now.
Hmm.... and a whole bunch of other shit!

If Anyone can help, please let me know. Oh, by the way, I already tried all of the uninstall measures required.

    Thanks,
    Cmag

P.S. It's good to be back!!!!!!!!

Maggi's on vacation for another week or so. Lazy bum's out sunning on some beach somewhere

I don't have an answer to your problem, but I have run the 5.13 drivers on the kid's G200 with no problems...

      I have PD5.13 running OK on a VIA board (Soyo 5EMA) with a K6-2 333...

I mean, I've got system problems, naturally-- it is after all a SS7 system-- but nothing directly attributable to the PD drivers and certainly nothing as drastic as you are getting.

From reading some threads (not carefully enough to advise, though) I got the impression that the system crash people have been experiencing on shutdown is an issue unto itself, as is the missing Monitor tab in Display Properties.

What I mean is that I think you have *several* problems related to your installation, not just one global one...

Sorry I can't be more specific right now, but I'll surf around later and see what I turn up..

      Who got rid of her V2, because her Soyo 5EMA, K6-2 333 not o/c, 256MB PC100, Mill. G200 8MB SGRAM, MX300, Win98 works plenty good enough...'til she's can get the G400/Athlon rig, anyway...[drool, drool... ]

Download and flash your card with the latest Bios update. Be sure to install the latest VIA IRQ & AGP patches. Install directX 6.1. make sure you have extracted the 5.13 drivers to somewhere on your hard drive. Then download and run Matrox's Powerdesk Uninstaller. Follow the instruction from the uinstaller.

          If you still have problems

          1) Make sure that the G-400 has an IRQ to itself and there is no card in the 1st PCI slot.

          2) Check for hardware duplicates in Device manager and networks in the control panel

          3) Lastly, Disable AGP 2X with registry hacks. Older VIA chipsets (rev. CD) had some bugs.

          Good luck and happy computing
