  • Reboot Problems with 5.13

Since i've installed the 5.13 drivers for my G200 i havent been able to reboot even once.
When i try to shut down, reboot or restart the screen goes blank and the only thing i can see is the mouse pointer which i cant move.I'm using win98 ,my g200 bios is the latest (2.6) and this thing is really pissing me off.
    HELP!!

I have the same problem. except it normally happens when I turn my PC on for the first time(when the computer is cold). I get a black screen with just the mouse pointer. I contacted Matrox technical support and sent me some .reg files, to fix the problem, but this has not helped.

I have not tried the older drivers, but did you have any problems with them?

The older drivers seem to work fine. However
i can't live with them because i want to take advandage of the latest ICD.If i could only use 4.50 and have the final ICD at the same time i'd be happy. Is that possible?

By the way what is the specification of your PC. I have heard that Pentium 3 does send instructions to quickly, although I dont think this is strickly true!

Pekker(where did you get that name?),
Have disabled quick shutdown? If not, then goto start/programs/accesories/system tools/system information. Dig around in there, it is there. Disable it, and see if that solves your problem.

Guys, I had the EXACT same problem (a freeze at reboots/shutdowns with only the mouse pointer visible). I fixed it by upgrading my via motherboard drivers, make SURE you have the latest ones (agp bridge, bios, etc.); it'll save you further frustration.

BTW, this is suggested by matrox themselves through a tech support link on their website.

                OH YES!PROBLEM SOLVED.

I've downloaded the latest VIA drivers (http://www.viatech.com/drivers/index.htm)
and tried to install them.I have failed to do so however ,because the
system simply couldn't reboot (after all that was the problem).Hence i've installed
the old 4.33 drivers which gave me the ability to reboot my system as
i used to do B4 installing pd 5.15.Afterwards i installed the VIA drivers succesfully
                and finally i've re-installed pd 5.15.EVERYTHING works fine.Thanks Boys.
