    Hi, Haig,
The reason of the accusation you did mentioned is because of similar accusation by client B to client A for being venting negative thoughts on matrox and their product. What I am against is the EGO problem of some guys who would label another person and his opinion according to what harware he own or favour, but less on the facts and reasons behind it.

What's all the complaining about? If you dont feel like waiting then go out and buy something else. It's a videocard for christs sake, not a roll in the hay

I really like the Macy's Bridal Ad's in the forum, It warms my heart!
I just got back from a Market Pro computer show here in NJ. They had single head G400's 16/32 in low stock 2 boards tops each. 109. for 16/meg and 150/32 meg. I have been looking for a dual head G400 32 for a while on the web and if you think that they are "everywhere" forget it! There is not one store that has one on their shelves in NJ, that I have called or visited. My main goal is not to PAY-UP. I had a chance at All-Star but they sold out quick. 170. Its not really all that easy to find a board at a fair price. At the show was a big supply of V3/3500 which was a surprise. And folks walking out with them! yuk!...250.00.
This is the next board I will to own, don't shoot me cause I wont pay 199.00 to the On-line store.

I think your problem tylau is not that you should take your drugs but rather you should lay off of them.

You can tell when someone has problems when the first link under 'Good Hardware Sites' is Tom's Hardware Site.....

Umm Haig, do you mean 6 digits as in 100,000 or 7 as in one million, I would find not being able to keep up with 100,000 orders VERY hard to believe with a company that has 10% of the video card market. I have to ask also (I know you had no part of this) is why Matrox only used ONE fab again when they had the same problem last year with the G200 demand, especially after they lost the deal with Compaq because they couldn't supply enough chips?

As for the Jetta analogy-it doesn't work too well, you can keep a car for several years without worrying if it will still be able to transport you so you can afford to wait a couple of months, it will even save you money, with computer technology, you have to worry every year whether or not it will run the software you want it to. With every day that goes by, Matrox is losing because others are offering similiar products that are available now. Also, cars features do not advance at the rate computers do, cars from 5 years ago have most of the features today's cars have. So as time goes by, others catch up. I do not believe the Nv10 and voodoo4 will be out immediately but some do and they will wait for them now because Matrox isn't keeping up with demand. Usually this is good for business but over a prolonged period of time WITH fierce competition, it is bad. Harley-Davidson bikes have a five year waiting list, but there is nobody else in their class so they don't have to worry.

Matrox is borderline between the ultra high end and the mid to low end market, but others are close enough that they can't afford the delays much longer.

I sell computers and I like to able to give people the hardware they want when they want it rather than have to wait. It is good to see a backorder because you know the product is probably really good then, but not a long backorder because then they just buy something else or go elsewhere and I lose the sale.

Matrox has a real winner, hopefully with their next chip they CAN keep up with the demand and not because few people buy them.

Good point Red2. I was blown away by the reports of the G200 and sat and agonised for nearly three months on backorder. A lot of people get much of the pleasure from a new product, even outside of the computer world, by having the latest and greatest NOW to own and show off. This is human nature and especially so in specialist/ fanatical catagories such as hard core gamers. I would bet that those who have got their G400's are the ones who are telling others to stop being feral about things. I do not know if Matrox is accountable for delays, but some communication and pacifying on their web site would help.

                      Hi Red,

I mean 6 digits as in 100,000. That's pretty good for a card that has hit the retail channels for only 3 weeks. That figure does not include any OEM deals.

Also, the latest lack of supply for the memory chips isn't helping the situation either.

I don't know much about our OEM situation but Compaq is bundling the G400. We just got Dell and working on Gateway.

Don't know why we stick with one fab. It might be because NEC gives us the best price.

Hopefully, this will change with the next card.

MM - Don't know the release date.

                      Haig

Exactly. You don't know much. But that's what YOU think Haig!

HEH what order number has currently gotten their MAX cards? EU-3xx? US-11XX? CA-21xx?

I really wanto know where you are in the Ordernumber chain, that way I can predict when my cards' up! Heh, I can even make up my mind on the thing about cancelling or not.

I must say Matrox as done much better this year than last (from what I have heard eh.) year.

You'll do fine M4tR0X, but PLEASE! don't let us go through this shit again.

                        Cheers!

NEC just sucks. They are doing the PowerVR 250 series for SEGA and Videologic, so I think their resources are streteched out.

I would like to know if you have any idea when the G400 Max will release for retail. I know you are the Technical Support Manager at Matrox but was wondering if you had any idea of when it will release.

tish: I was informed last week that my MAX order (EU-166) would be ready to ship this week.

I think that some tracking of "order number being processed" would be great for us - but it won't happen. Silly, because it's a bit like going into a restaurant and being refused information about when your meal may appear.

As things stand, we have to rely on the goodwill of Haig in Tech Support and others to provide information that Matrox' marketing department should be releasing.

Come on Haig, what's the story with your marketing department? Do they hibernate between chipset-hyping periods? I hope that some of your salary comes from their budget!

                              Tim
