    G400 MAX 32-bit-buffer... Should it be turned on under some circumstances? When?

    Inquiring minds want to know

    Well I never bother turning it off - the performance hit is hardly noticable.

      I have to agree with Steve. I have not noticed any real loss either.

        Yes, I should have been more clear. There is a minimal performance hit with 32bit Z enabled. But, to say there is not performance hit is incorrect, because there most definately is.

          I run with it enabled. The performance hit is very small, and I do see a difference, especially in Half-Life. If looking at a sign or light from a long distance, it will sometimes flicker in and out of view. By turning on 32bitz, those objects don't flicker...

            you can turn it on, but you will incur a performance penalty. I cant really tell any difference with it on.

              I made some tests in 3dmark 99max in 16 bit settings all default, no OC,Vsynch ON Desktop @16bit,32 bit zbf OFF @1024x768x16=overall score = 4624
              now in Desktop @32bit,32bit zbf ON @1024x768x32 Vsynch ON = 3804 so bout 24% performace lost...
              in mather FPS : 16bit ALL game 1 race= 50.2
              first.p.s=42.9 fps
              : 32 bit ALL game1 race= 36.7
              first.p.s=39,5 fps
              again NO OC tools used Vsynch ON....so it is yours choice...

              In games like HALF-LIFE,Mechwarrior 3, didnt actualy seen any big performace hit with... 32bit zbf ON..smooth like glas @ 1024x768
