  • Got my G400 32Mb...And I'm HAPPY!

Damn cool card - the colours are so vibrant compared to the washed-out look of the Voodoo 2.

At last I have been able to replace the Mil2, and get proper speed out of Jagged Alliance 2.

    Double plus good.

Up to date at last...and with loads of extra widgets...

How dare you be impressed! Don't EVER come to this forum if you're happy with something. How can you be HAPPY with a Matrox card? There's loads of people here who back me up...

No, welcome to the land of the gee400 may you have fun. Nice to see somepeople without any problems.

    Cheers,

    Steve

Sliced bread? What that pre-processed, genetically modified cardboard? Nuthin' like fresh bread.

The reason I've had no problems with the card was that I made sure I blitzed all the reference to the Millenium on the systems and in the registry. I REALLY recommend people to follow the uninstall instructions from Matrox. Use the latest drivers AND flash the card BIOS too.

I've got a bleedin' good deal here on the vanilla 32Mb G400 - and I got all those little extras thrown in too.

People - YOU DON'T HAVE TO BUY THE G400 MAX. Don't get stressed over a frickin' video card. Jeez.

            Coily,

Our present society, through the use of advertising, quarterly advancements in technology, credit cards, TV remotes and profit motivated corporations has caused us to be addicted to instant gratification. It is within peoples rights to become stressed if they cannot get what they want, even if they don't need it!

But here you come along all happy with your advice and say "Don't get stressed over a frickin' video card. Jeez". We want to be upset! Leave us alone!

Actually, you are probably right and it was a good post. Unpopular perhaps, but bravely done! Good for you.

                merchant2,

What kind of problems do you have in Half-Life with your G400? The only problem that I know of is escaping to config screen and going back to game screen can cause corruption if the desktop is at 32bit color.

Whenever I want to play Half-Life, I set my desktop to 16bit, and the problem goes away.

I was having a blast playing the game yesterday. Bought the "Game of the Year" version just recently, and have not the time to finish it. You know, gotta work and spend quality time with wife.

Anyway, love the MAX. Love Half-Life.
                Happy, happy, happy.

                  Happy! Happy! Joy! Joy!

Better be careful we don't draw in the willing MAX wannabes from the other threads...

Some chaps are getting REAL paranoid about this messageboard - naming no names - I reckon they could do with a nice stroll in the countryside - AND KEEP AWAY FROM COMPUTERS.

                    */Sarcasm off/*

But seriously soon as I can play Half-Life at the res and speed I am used to, I'll be happy. Hell, I probably wont even buy a Max after all.

I still don't comprehend this word 'happy'. The best feeling you can have with computers is 'oh well, nearly works, it'll do'. Can someone enlighten me what 'happy' means when used in relation to these hunks of metal called pooters?

PS: seem Microsoft's slogan for Windows Millennium? It just works err, if you say so mr billy boy. What drugs were you onn again?

I had a MAX on order for a while. Then I got an email stating that it would be delayed until Aug 24th. Then I thought, "Hey, I've got a p2-350 and monitor that only goes up to 1024x768. What the hell am I waiting for a MAX for?" So, I cancelled the MAX, ordered a G400 32MB DH (last thursday), and it came in this morning. I'm sure I'll be very happy with it, since my g200 never gave me a spot of trouble. Matrox Forever!!

                        Happy happy joy joy

Where did you get this deal on the G400 32MB? I've been looking for a good price on one!

I downloaded the latest BIOS and the drivers off of the Website before setting my card up. I never even touched the CD.

Followed the instructions for removing all traces of old Matrox drivers/powerdesk on the website. Installed the new drivers, flashed the BIOS and it worked first time.

I took no short-cuts 'cause I know you can easily get screwed doing that. I tried the demo of Kingpin to make sure it all works - and it did. The smoke looked GOOD.

I did have the card on order from Simply Computers, but I found that they are still a bunch of muppets, so I ordered from SMC-computers (A little more expensive)

So, my UK friends, I really recommend getting the G400 32Mb AND NOT GETTING STRESSED.
