Does anyone know if support for real AC-3 to 4 speaker downmixing is in the works for the Matrox DVD Player scinemaster engine? I'd love to get real AC-3 downmix to stereo + low freq channel on my front and rear speakers on my SBLive. I know the new version of PowerDVD has this, but I prefer the scinemaster engine. I hope its in the works for the next engine release. Anyone hear anything about this hopefully?

The only player that does real 5.1 > 4 channel downmixing in software is WinDVD 1.2+

It works with both the SBLive and now with the MX300 (Aureal 2035 drivers). The LFE channel isn't mixed in though..

If you get the opporunity, give it a try, IMHO it has better, more fluid display than the Cinemaster product, and the sound quality is great.

Seems PoerDVD 2.0 can now do 5.1 > 4 channels on the SBLive too...

Haven't got it, but it would want to be a while lot better than the v1.61 I've got coz it sucks
