  • Ant, Why are the IP's now visible.

I was just wondering why our IP's are now visible?

I've had IP tracking switched on due to the activites of a certain person and his threats to this server. Hopefully we've seen the last of him but if he does return and cause trouble we will have full evidence against him. We know who he is, what ISP he uses, who his employer is...

Very well, feel free to delete my thread. It is posted in the wrong forum, anyhow.

If you're like me and use 4 different providers you'll get a different IP address and theres nothing stopping me to get another id. Therefore I could do the business of pissing up the server. I wouldn't and to be honest don't know how to and I ain't interested in learning to. If I did it at work and bypassed the proxy server you would get a different Ip each time I logged on since there dynamically allocated in most cases. It would take them ages find out who did it The only thing they would know is which building it came from. Also I could nick someone elses IP and get someone else done for it.
I think listing the IP address's may possibly give the orginal pratt who started all this trouble a challenge.

i don't like the idea of everybody seeing my IP, cant't the server log the IP's without showing them to everyone??

            D

Oh.. after posting i saw that the IP isn't the IP of my machine.... well probably you could now only trace the ISP where i came from....

BTW.. i like the upgrade of the server.. it looks a bit better now....

Sorry folks but if you don't like this then please stay away from the forums for the time being. This idiot is making threats and if he carries them out we will nail him for it.

It should be able to. Don't worry about your IP being shown more than likely it's your proxy server be shown. If your using windoze 9x run winipcfg and see what is says for your Ip and it's ipconfig /all for NT then compare the two.

Me again as you can see my IP address has changed since the line got dropped during posting so the IP's I'm getting are dynamic.

*hits himself* there's me all complaining about showing my IP, when I noticed it had changed, *checks* yep, I'm using a proxy *sigh*

There are ways around it, but if he uses them, its his own stupid fault, as it will land him in more trouble.

                        Hi guys,

Ant, is there no way to log the IP's from this joker for the use of yourself and gagames without advertising them to the World including of all people, him?

With OUR IP's, he is free to flood ping and whatnot to his hearts content. If he flood pings my IP, he'll be flooding a federal govt. address, which could be bad for him. But guys on cable, etc might be vulnerable.

The IPs will only be publicly viewable for a little while longer we'll soon have everything setup.
