  • Share Your Vanilla G400 Benchark Results!

    Hi I have a G400 16megs Dual Head. I am not overclocking the G400 card.

    I have a Pentium III 450mhz.

    Here are my results.

    Pentium III 450 @ 464Mhz
    3Dmark 99 Max 800 by 600:
    4643 3DMarks and 7221 CPU Marks

    Quake 2 (800 by 600):
    Cruser = 35.2 fps
    Massive = 51.5 fps
    Demo 1 = 68.5 fps

    Pentium III 450 @ 558mhz

    3DMark 99 Max
    5507 3DMarks & 8720 CPU Marks

    Quake 2:
    Crusher = 41.7
    Massive = lock up (why?)

    Seems like the G400 doesn't work well at 124 FSB. My previous card and my friends Voodoo3 don't have any problems at 124fsb.

    I have a Super Slot fan next to my G400 to cool down the card. Do I need to put another fan? where? IS it really necessary to put a fan on the G400 when running the system at 124fsb?

    Regards,
    Manoj Mahtani

    Hey Manoj,
    Don't you think you ought to start another thread to find out what's going on with your card?

    Look in your other thread I have given you some suggestions, have you tried those yet?

        ManojM- I just added another fan to my case, I decided not to put heatsinks on my memory chips but I made my own card cooler attached with a bracket to the side of the case so now having the front fan blowing in,the 4"fan blowing right on my card, the pentium fan on my heatsink of the G400, my processor fan and the power supply fan blowing out I can use powerstrip and get my memory at 205 core at 154 very stable.I believe that's the MAX speeds, The problem is that i'm not getting huge scores on 3Dmark99max in 800x600 mode, still at 4608. any suggestions on how to get this up to your scores? I don't want to OC my P3 just yet, would the fact that I have my refresh rate on optimal rather than 85 make a big diff? Or maybe I need to turn v-sink off for the benchmark. Any suggestions are appreciated. Sorry this is so long. Thanks

              I read it but I didn't know what TV bios was.

              You see my card has Dual Head so I thought that the TV bios be used.

              Anyway, good that I didn't use the TV bios. The program automatically installed 897-15.bin for me. So everything is fine.

                why are you running your card at a 1:1 AGP ratio. At 124mhz AGP you are way over spec, so stop complaining about it locking up.

                my benchmarks are
                1024x768 32bbp 16bbp Z
                timedemo 1 and 2 are 71-72fps
                massive is 60fps
                crusher is 41-43fps
                mon2.dm2 is 70-71fps
                one.dm2 is around 59-60fps

                expendable 1024x768 32bbp is 52fps
                forsaken 1024x768 32bbp is 169fps

                mon2 and one are the special S3 levels of quake 2 that use large textures

                this is on a celey 366@567 and a 32MB G400 at 150/200

                  When did I say I am running at 1/1 AGP Ratio?

                  I am running at 2/3 AGP ratio at 124fsb.

                  By the way there is a new bios for the G400, right? Is it necessary to update the bios? What does it fix?

                    I assumed you were. An 83mhz AGP bus shouldnt cause any trouble on the g400. Only way to figure out the cause of a lockup is to trouble shoot - go back to basics, then climb from there

                    yes, there is a 1.5-22 bios.

                      My bios is now 1.3-22

                      I downloaded the new bios 1.4 from Matrox's web site. Where did you get the 1.5 bios?

                      And do we have to update it? I am using version 5.13 drivers.
