    Hey Manoj,

I may be having similar problems with a new identical setup:

    Celeron 300A @ 464
    Abit BE6
    128MB PC-133
    WD Expert 18GB
    G400 MAX
    Turtle Beach Montego II Quadzilla
    3Com Fast Ethernet
    Cheap ISA modem

The wierdest thing about my lockups is that they are very inconsistent. It locks up most frequently in Q2 and when using WinAmp of all things. But then it does NOT lock up while in Q2 campatibility mode (in which it DOES run all the benchmarks), while running the Tech Demo, or in Heretic 2. I thought it was the GL drivers, but the fact that Heretic 2 runs without a hitch (and looks damn good too) says that it isn't that. And also it will radamly just lock up on the desktop.

I have reinstalled the drivers twice with no success. Could this be due to the card or the other components? I don't have access to another computer to test the G400 or another AGP card to test in mine.

    Any suggestions?

I think it is our BE6 motherboard.

I read over in Abit's newsgroup that many guys with G400 are having problems with Abit's boards.

Yesterday, I replaced my G400 card and if the lock ups come again,I will replace my motherboard.

          ManojM,

What did you replace your G400 with? A similar card or just somethign to test the AGP? Any luck? Tonight I am gonna try to yank all the other cards and try that. Are you getting the inconsistent lock ups as well? That's the thing that bugs me the most with this problem is how inconsistent it is.

Also, i read in another string about how the monitor is very picky. I have a Panasonic S70. It is 2 years old and at least at the time, it was a damn good monitor. Maybe this will be the excuse I need to get a 19", eh?

Good luck and lemme know if you get it to work or find the mobo bad.

            Manoj,

There were a lot of problems with voltages, clockings, and quality control with the first batch of BE6's. If you got one the first day (like me), you probably got a bad board (like me).

Also, as a previous poster said, the 3dfx cards are pretty oblivious to:

            - Bus speed
            - CPU errors
            - New technology (oops! did I say that?)

Because they are just PCI cards on crack.

            ... Slarty

Specs? You want specs? Yeah. Alright you primitive screwheads, listen up. See this? This is my boomstick! It's a twelve gauge double barreled Remington, S-Mart's top-of-the-line. You can find this in the sporting goods department. That's right this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids Michigan. Retails for about $109.95. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel and a hair trigger. That's right. Shop Smart. Shop S-mart. Ya got that?! Now I swear, the next one of you primates, even touches me...

You may want to confirm this, but I've heard reports that the first batch of BE6 mobos had AGP voltage regulators that couldn't handle the current that some of the new fast cards required. Since the card draws more current when the fsb is clocked higher (or the card itself o/c or in agp 2x mode), the regulators would overheat and the voltage would drop to the card, causing errors and crashes. Just something to look into.

                Hi!

Thanks for all your advise. I am now running at 100 fsb with turbo turned on.

I play half life and I find it lagging at times. I want to go back to 124 fsb.

Yesterday, I tested my friend's ATI Rage Fury in my system and it worked well at 124 FSB.

May be the G400 gets really hot and that I really need to put a nice heatsink fan on the chip. I have a super duper slot fan and I was hoping that it will help me. Seems it is not doing the job well.

I don't have any problems with the BE6. I can change the voltage setting etc. The only problem I have with the motherboard is that my network keeps dropping.

Anyway, I will keep trying but I am scared if I go back to 124 fsb then my G400 will get damaged or something.

                Regards,

I think that you can run your G400 at 124 FSB. Maybe you need to increase the voltage to your processor. Hell, have you tried any of the previous suggestions? These are tried and true methods of getting a system to overclock successfully. Really try them, if you haven't already. Also you can try the 120FSB, it is a tad lower, but definitely faster than 103 (100 turbo).
