Good MURC Folks,
This is nagging me a bit, and being a newbie to benchmarking and playing games with vsync off, here is my question.
I run my monitor at 85Hz for resolutions 1280x1024 and below.
When I ran the 3DMark99 MAX benchmark, I notice that during the texture test (the one with a plate/plane with lots of textures rotating) the animation would pause occasionally (once every one or two revolution). This is with vsync on.
With vsync off, the darn thing was as smooth as a baby's butt.
So, uh, after that, I have always had vsync off. I have not seen any visual tearing or artifacts thusfar.
Umm.. What is your opinion on this observation? Is this specific to 3DMark99 MAX or in general?
Thanks.
JamesA.
