That was a good one... I wonder why my ISP company runs only Unix servers?

Gotta like that. The sad part is, it's totally true.

BTW, is it just me, or is Microsoft's little feature to "assist" in selecting text with the mouse annoying as hell? If I wanted to select the whole damn word, I would have moved the mouse all the way over there. Aarrgh. It's giving me a facial tick...

I'm sure everybody knows this, but in the name of mercy, I have to publish the solution to the annoying 'MS selecting the whole word' problem...

In Word, in the Tools Menu, choose Options.
Once there, go to the 'Edit' tab and uncheck the "when selecting, automatically select entire word" checkbox.

        Don't you feel better now?

Thanks Holly, but I already found that one. It happens in IE as well, and there's no option to turn it off. Believe me, I've looked. If you know of a fix, I would be forever in your debt.

Finally, somoene who feels my pain!
I cant stand the whole-word-selecting in IE5. Nice browser, but sometimes little things like that make it so annoying its almost not worth it. I need to fix some stupid InstallShield bug somewhere on my computer that errors me when installing Netscape (ugh). Anyways, from my extensive expierence with highlighting text my only solution for highlight half a word or such is:

Highlight all the words from left to right. Then you must go from right to left SLOWLY to highlight letter-by-letter. You can vise-versa the direction of highlighting. Annoying.

              IE, huh??

What about "The page is not available" thing?
It gives you a list with possibilities, but not which one it is!!

Netscape on the other hand says that the page is either dead, or the server is down, or something else. That's more to my liking than that I have to start guessing what might be wrong.

And even worse, if the site uses frames or a banner ad isnt linked right, IE5 displays the full-browser IE Error.

Oh, and you have to look at the top blue program bar to see the specific error.

Rev, that works if you've got a partial word at one end of your selection, but if you've want to select something with partial words at both ends, you have to select the half word at one end, then hold down shift and use the arrow keys to extend the selection to where you want it. I can't believe we have to use such a complex workaround to disable one of microsoft's "features".
