  • Frustrating problem with G400, confused too! help?

Hi, well I thought everything was fine. But its not. I am finding that my screen gets garbled every so often sometimes right away when i just open IE5 or later when ive been browsing for a bit (10-20min) and the system locks, so I updated to 5.13 version (Is the 5.15 an official stable release? should i install it?) and thought it was fixed, nope it isnt. It varies in time that it occurs but the end result is the same garbled text or large gray/black bands acroos the screen. Windows Device manager is set to Compaq 171FS and when I go to load that in the matrox display proerties, or if i try standard 1024x768 the banding/corruption show up like Boom!, so I think that is the problem, how do i fix this? Do i specify something different? I heard about this before with the Abit mobo but couldnt find it anywhere on the forum. this is really ticking me off and driving me crazy!!! I have:
    G400 DH 32Mb
    SBLive! value
    and a Celeron 466 on an Abit BX6 R2.
Is this that monitor thingy? How do I remedy it? Do I have to switch to a diff monitor (the only other one here is a Dell VS15 15", I kinda like 17" though.) I am saving for a V95, but that wont happen until umm, November, so you see this problem is going to kill me! please help me, also because I want to play Descent 3 now that I heard the EMBM patch is out!!!

Sounds more like the AGP2X thingy some of us are experiencing... Have you tried forcing AGP1X?

        Here:

Run forceagp1x.reg, reboot, and you should be running agp1x

Okay, that seemed to do the trick. But the question is, will I ever be able to use 2X? Is this a driver issue, and when will it be addresed?

Haig told me they managed to replicate the problem and it's supposed to be fixed in the next or following release of PoowahDesk...
