This 'feature' that appeared to my Win98 a while ago is driving me crazy. But while I use W2000 as my main OS I did not discover this bug in 98 soon enough to tell what caused it. I suspect PD5.13 however.
The very annoying problem is that I cannot browse my files. By saying I cannot browse them mean that there's no way I can list my files in any directory in 98 anymore using methods that 98 offers!
To be more specific: When I double click 'My Computer' I'll see my HDD's and everything is normal. Right, but if I open any of those drivers I'll se nothing. Nothing.
No directories, no files. The status bar at the bottom of the windows tell the right amount of files I should be seeing..
Using explorer it's somewhat better while I can see directories, but still NO files!
Some programs, like Winamp, can list the files right tho. (when opening files from the program)
No files system is messed up; Scandisk reports no errors. Also using command prompt everything is normal.
God! This is killing me! Try to use Windows for a day without using any methods but command prompt in listing files.. And I've had it for days (maybe weeks) now.
