  • Can I still use my v2 with a g400?

I have just recieved my g400 32 mb dh, and I want to know if there is a problem keeping my v2 in the system (I use it for Starsiege and Unreal :-))

Does anyone know when the next driver-release is due?

    Thanks in advance

You shouldn't have any problems with your V2 card. I have two systems at home with a G400 in one and a Max in the other, both have V2 cards in them.

One question? Why would you want to keep your V2? Yes Glide compatibility is great but I believe that freeing up a PCI slot and replacing it with a card that gives great FPS for both OpenGL and D3D apps compared to what I've had in the past with my V2 is worth selling the V2 off. Don't get me wrong, My V2 served it's purposes and it's time to replace it. The G400 (alas I couldn't wait for the MAX) is the card for me. (I don't play Quake 3 so OpenGL performance is not an issue with me). All the cool extras made my choice....Now if Pod Racer dies on me I'll have a problem... :-)

          Yay!!!!
Pentium III 500MHz, 128MB RAM ,10GB + 850 MB Driver, Samsung DVD, Diamond Monster Sound II, and of course a G400 32MB DH (O/C 200/150)
          blah blah blah

I've kept my v2 cards because I play Unreal. I haven't found anything which works well with Unreal except Glide. I've seen reports of good things, but there are usually registry changes and tricks and restrictions on resolution yadda yadda yadda.

            Not worth it

I have been keeping my saved Unreal games for a LONG time so I could finish the game. With my new max I just reloaded Unreal, patch it to 225f and picked directx and am running it at 1280x1024!!!!! no problems.

Heck, I can play Unreal at 1024X768 on my G200 with the new drivers in Direct X... I ditched my V2 with great rejoicing!

But I don't see why you shouldn't be able to use one... if you really wanted to....

Sorry, the idea of using a V-anything card ever again makes me a little ill...

Yeh I patched Unreal to the latest. It plays nice and smooth at 1024*748 so my Voodoo2 is out and no longer required. You don't really need the Voodoo anymore.

I have a V2 and Unreal and Tribes are the only two games that I play on the V2. I am in awe of anyone that has got this game (Unreal) to work smooth...with anything other than Glide. Tribes and Starsiege work well with Nvidia OpenGL but are "Choppy" with the Matrox. Holly comon thats impossible G200...yea right heheh
