How fast can your G400 or G400 Max goes??

I got the G400 with 5ns RAM and was able to OC it with PowerStrip to 235MHz..

I didn't have heavy extra cooling. All I did was slapped on my old 486 fan on the card heatsink and it does 235MHz. I took it to the bangg LAN party and ran it for 2 days and it works great.. After the party, I tested it with Unreal time demo and was able to run 260 cycles without freeze and it's still going....

I did try 240MHz but it freezed up on Unreal time demo so I guess it need some extra cooling. My Global Win is on it's way and I will see how far I can push my G400..

So that's my story

I have a G400 32 MB dualhead, but I haven't seen yet wheter I have 5 or 6 ns memory. Probably 6 ns memory. I was able to overclock it to 150 MHz, without any fan and stability problems. Not bad for a simple G400.

have a close look onto the stamp on your RAM chips ...

at the end you'll find a number, either 5 or 6 ...

another proof should be if there's a connection for a fan on your G400 ...

Maggi is right. You should be able to see it on your memory chips on your G400 board. You should read something like "XXXXXX-5s or -6s".

I got my Global Win FDP32 2 days ago. I modified it and put it on my G400. That heatsink is HUGE and it's a pain in the butt to put that thing on. I took me 2 hours to get it done. Also it takes up 3 PCI slots if you put the fan on top of the heatsink. You can save a PCI slot by mounting the fan seperately.

After the heatsink installed, first thing I try is 180/240 since I did 235. Unreal Timedemo, no problem!! 3DMark 99 Max looping overnight.. No problem!!! Woohoo.. I guess that heat sink does make a different.. I run a open case so I was able to touch the heatsink dueing the test, it's not even warm.

Next up, 245. Too bad it freezed at the first test of 3DMark99 Max. So I guess I might max out my G400, but I still have hope since I am running a 83MHzFSB. Now all I need to test is clock down my CPU to 66MHz and test it again and see if it will do 245MHz. But I am happy with 240MHz.

If you need some info for how to modify the Global Win FDP32, just drop a note on this forum and I will try to help. I will try to post some pictures if anyone wants it.
