What exactly does Pdesk.exe do?

What exactly does the Powerdesk executable Pdesk.exe do?
I don't have mine loading at all and have noticed no difference in anything.
Is it just for monitor presets and stuff?
Or does it actually have something to do with the performance of the G400?

My guess is it contains the code for the taskbar icon functionality.

It's also the program that responds to any PowerDesk hotkeys that you set up.
