I think I found a real reason for Q3demo1 slowdowns

Never did I see an "increase in OpenGL promise" Only an "increase in Quake2 OpenGL promise". And it's very much there indeed. The benchmarks I saw regarding Q3 of 5.21 were saying that unlike Q2, Q3 is not affected by the 5.21 as far as performance goes.

      Hmm, these were my scores...
      refresh rate was 75hz
      q3demo1 - 1024x768, all on max
sync every frame on - 24.6fps
sync every frame off - 25.7fps
      q3demo1 - 1024x768, same except 3/4 texture quality
sync every frame on - 31.0fps
sync every frame off - 32.9fps

      q3demo2 - 1024x768, all on max
sync every frame on - 26.3fps
sync every frame off - 27.8fps

      q3demo2 - 1024x768, same except 3/4 texture quality
sync every frame on - 30.9fps
sync every frame off - 32.6fps

There is a big drop in fps from 3/4 texture quality to max quality. However i didn't get the 13fps MM got. Turning off vsync does boost fps slightly. However, in Q1, my scores are still low. Vsync doesn't effect it. Is there a way to turn off vsync in Q1? And where is the performance boost that was promised? I don't see it.

This is really interesting... Your CPU is not faster than that of Z_Morris, yet somehow you get way higher results than he does. And these 13fps seem not to depend on the CPU at all - whether it's a Celeron450 or P3-550...

Can you give more details on your setup?
VSync on/off (how), AGP Size in BIOS, things like that... You have BX6-2.02, I have 2.0 but I doubt that this problem is that of 2.0 + 5.21 drivers... there is something else we all share in common and you seem not to.

MGATweak now does registry settings? So much for G400Tweak.

Silly me... I was of course referring to G400 Tweak... don't know how I ended up typing MGA instead. Sorry about that.

P.S. I fixed the error in the original posting.

Ah, well ok then. Understandable, the names are too similar. But what else would you call the thing?

I emailed Liew Khong Jye about cooperation between the two programs, but that was quite a while ago, no reply. I also emailed Matrox about getting some registry information and whether I should even bother with the program. No reply there either.

Well, since it only deals with the registry settings, how about G400 RegTweak?

Actually, mine was released to the public first, how about MGA Overclocker?

Pimp = in control, managing stuff

It's really Billy Wilson ( http://www.voodooextreme.com/ ) lingo. Many web sites try to imitate his funk based 70s style.

                          Hope this helps

Ah. I based G400 Tweak on NV3Tweak for the Riva 128 actually, same deal, control panel, display properties extension. Could call it G400 ControlFreak, that's what NV3Tweak mutated into. I could even add some bogus hidden panel where you'd have to create a PowerUser registry key to see
it. Oh wait, Matrox already has something like that, ShowMeNothingMatrox.
