  • Problems in 5.13 not fixed in 5.21

Can't run openGL games in MultiMon mode. D3D seems to work fine. (Is this supposed to be fixed in the new ICD?)

Can't put DVD window on second monitor and see video in MultiMon mode.

Can see DVD output on second monitor in DualHeadMax mode.

After starting a game in Half Life in D3D, if you escape out to the menus, when you return to the game, the screen flakes out with two solarized mini windows at the top of the screen with the bottom of the screen blank.

Are any of these problems fixed in any of the betas?

I don't think that OGL was ever ment for more than one monitor ...

Remember, it was the first real 3D API.

I doubt that OGL will ever work with MM enabled.

I don't care about supporting both monitors, I just don't want to have to disable MultiMon mode just to run OpenGL games.

I tried DVDMax too and got nothing on the second monitor. I heard that in 5.13, this was a known problem when you had a monitor attached (as opposed to a tv).

So, when this all works, the only way to have DVD output on the second monitor is with DVDMax? Why not allow it with MultiMon too? Why would overlay only work on the first monitor?

Thanks for the list. One reason I posted was to make sure that these bugs/features are at least exposed. Hopefully these problems can be fixed quickly.

For the double-escape to Half-Life solarized screen problem, change your desktop color depth to 16 bit before playing Half-Life.

The escapes would then work properly.

Temporary workaround of course. Could be a Half-Life problem, you know.

It's possible but it doesn't happen with a TNT card...

Actually, my TNT *does* do that annoying double solarized windows in half-life. I'm using a Diamond Viper 550 (OEM) that used to be in a Dell. Setting the desktop to 16 bits works, though.

I had an ASUS 3400 and using the NVIDIA reference drivers (208s), I didn't have that problem. I'll try it on my wife's machine (she gets all my old parts) to double check.

I just tried Half Life on my old TNT card and it does not have the problem so I don't believe it's a Half Life problem but a driver one. I am running the very latest Half Life patch level.

Doors in System Shock 2 (demo) also have problems which probably means they happen with Thief too.
