  • Overclocking G400MAX

180/240 is about my maximum, but I need better cooling to keep it there. Just do a search, I posted some benchmarks a week or so ago.

I begin to see artifacts at 165/220. It doesn't seem to be a heat problem - the chips are cool to touch (with the system turned off afterwards of course and me properly grounded Probably not as good memory as of those who can go upto 240.

It runs flawlessly at 157.5/210 but the speed improvement is rather negligable - less than one FPS in Quake3.

What settings in MGATweak are you using to overclock? I tried setting the SystemPLL to 320 and got artifacts immediately in Q3A. That was only a 160 chip clock and I forget the mem clock. Does everyone just use powerstrip?

My result is same as MM. Max. overclock is 165/220. But very easy have noise in the screen and 157.5/210 is prefect no noise no crush. But can not see the different between normal clock and overclock. I'm using the newest verion powerstrip to overclock. The MGAtweak does not work very well to me.

I don't have a Max but I use powerstrip, I think it's just easier to use. Haven't had a problem yet using it. (newest version)
When something easier to use comes out, I will probably switch to it, i'm only using it to o/c, little bit of over kill for just that.

Grimace, if you're using MGATweak on your MAX you need to uncheck Duty Cycle Correction when using the standard divisor settings (2.00/1.50/2.00). For most other divisor combinations this setting should be enabled though.

If you're using standard divisors it doesn't matter much if you're using PowerStrip or MGATweak. It's just a matter of what you like best.

Do you know why Duty Cycle Correction should be on?

According to Liew the chip specs dictate Duty Cycle Correction (DCC) when using certain divisor settings, including the standard 2/1.5/2 settings.
However the specs seem to be wrong. With ADCC enabled I can't get higher than 155/207, with ADCC disabled I can get as high as 180/240.

Sooo I have to retest. I can push my vanilla as far as 160/200...with ADCC
