  • G400 & Voodoo2

I have a G400 SH and a Voodoo2 in my system. Do I really need the Voodoo2 anymore (except for Glide games, of course)? If the performance of the G400 is better/on par with the V2, that would free up a spot.

The G400 will beat a V2 on everything other than GLide.

Unreal. UT. Tribes, Dynamix. Thats the only reason I have one in my box. And of course the 200$$ that I paid for it makes it hard to put in the draw.

Maggie, when do you want to fly ? I'd love to get a game In WWII Fighters up! I spent hours on JCN last fall and spring. HOURS..

I left mine in for the same reasons LAMFDTK did- there's a few games that look better (more features, usually) under the Glide mode than their D3D mode. As well, there's still a few Glide-only titles floating around. Granted, nearly all of the titles that fit either category is getting old, but hey, some of us still play GlQuake, right (making a point about the age not necessarily mattering).

I downloaded some type of glide wrapper for the G-series by Scott Cutler. Comes with the 'Configurator'.
Shouldn't this help the G eliminate the V?
I haven't the guts to run it, I haven't crashed since 5.21 install

Hey you Guys, you forgot one thing abou the V2. How about excellent 3Dnow support. Find me another video card that will do 70 fps at 1024 x 768 in Demo2.dm2 in Quake II on a K6/2-450? My pet peave is the fact that most Vidcard makers are only paying lip service to any 3dnow enhancements. Its got plenty of potential.
