Sorry, but now who's the one getting so up-tight over a damn graphics card? (might be time to reinstate my old sig).

      no prob Borg !

      Really not ...

I think the official release was somewhat messed up ... goto Ant's news page and scroll down to his tweaking of that latest release.

The release version is NOT what I had for testing, it's a different version.

We don't get all the version that the Matrox coders pump out of their keyboards and if I had my hands on that particular build, I'd told them to hit the brakes and - I hope - they wouldn't have released it.

I hope this won't get me into trouble ...

        Historically speaking.....It was a JOKE !
remember when the "its on the G200 retail box" OpenGL thing was the rage?....
Well...why would their be a box that would say the next drivers 5.2xx will give you 25% improved Opengl? G200 or 400? I hate when no one gets my poor excuses for humor.....

              I only have two questions:

              1. Will the GLQuake/GLQuakeWorld dynamic lighting be fixed?

              2. Will the texture management be fixed so we can play Tribes in OGL with stable performance?

If these problems are not fixed in the next release, please tell it, so I can go and buy some other 3d-card, because I'm tired of waiting.

For more information and screenshots, look at my previous ranting about PD5.21: http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/Forum4/HTML/000998.html

                here's my 2¢...

beta testers are just that, testers. if they were driver makers, i could see crawling up their arses with a hot poker because of these 'questionable' driver releases. but if all they do is test drivers and report results, we cannot be blaming them for disappointing releases. right? we can blame matrox.

as for me, i spent yesterday comparing 513, 515, and 521 in q3. there was a ~3% increase for me from 515 to 521 (513 and 515 were almost the same). i'm satisfied with the performance increase. if they can bump it up by that much each time they release a driver then i figure real work is being done. we all seem to get different results when comparing drivers anyway. lets not forget where we all started from in g200 ogl performance!

Haig: 5.21 ICD is slower than the 5.13 and that is a fact. Has nothing to do with vsync.

To disagree with some of you: The OGL has increased in speed on my G200 8Mb. It's way better now in Half-Life, SiN and Unreal, than I ever saw in PD5.13

Yes, all of you have read none of the above worked on my G400, but I got a message back from the company I got it from, they said it was faulty... I'll get a new one !!

So Haig: the PD5.21.017 is rock solid for me on my old G200... should at least give me some more credit for getting my G650 Maxine, pink board, 48Mb, never tried before drivers version !!!

I realy want the best for all of us G400 users...5.21 must be fixed..it is no good if newer driver is actualy slower then the older one...dam ! MATROX must realize that they make mistake & they must fix it FAST
this card cost lots of money so mistakes are not acceptable..

TRIBES..There is ONLY one card that the present code works with in OpenGL properly, Nvidia. Dynamix worked with them to optimize the latest series of patches for the game. It ONLY works with Nvidia cards in OGL. Thats why there is a setting for TNT/TNT2 in the menu, and a setting for everyone else. Its not the 5.xx thats having the problem.

I made a driver cocktail with the 5.15 and the 5.21 and it works fine. just paste your fav. ICD into the driver of choice and install! stop whinning... The UBA icd is coming to your town soon enough!

Just that the 5.25 drivers are now available on their web site. Another user (Marco, thanks again) alerted us to it just a second after you posted your question.

LAMFDTK, no fence, but I have to disagree about the Tribes issue. I think the problem is with the OGL drivers. I can get 20+ fps in indoor scenes in Tribes but when I go to outdoor scenes by fps will go to around 4-6 fps. That can't happen if there's no problems with drivers or the card itself (G200) can't handle the scenery. And I have tested Tribes in OGL a lot and I can in certain say that the drivers got problems with texture management, as they slowdown in quite simple outdoor sceneries in Tribes (without mentioning that I've got a 6 fps refresh in Q3test in q3test2.bsp map looking in the black sky. Search my posts and find a screenshot from it).

                                Greetings Jorden,

As long as your better half is aware that you are getting a maxine, no problems with me sending you one.

Advice #2 - always ask for permission if you can get something new. If she says no, you tell her that it's for both of you
