  • Overclocking g400 vanilla

Overclockers - what is meant when u quote a fig such as 165/220 what is the 165 and what is the 220 how do you arrive at a setting such as this in MGATweak?
My unclocked (& cooled) g400 acheived 5.50rm with Final Reality but after changeing PPL to 288 and tweaking sdram timings the FR mark dropped to 5.15rm where am i going wrong??

I haven't bothered to OC my G400 (I'm CPU limited, so why push the vid card...) but I'll tell you what I know,or think I know

The xxx/xxx numbers are core/memory speeds. As to how you adjust them with MGA tweak, I have no clue. I played with Performance Tuner for a while, but it showed no gains for me, so I returned to degault speeds.

After doing some testing with my vanilla G400, I realised my core limit was 160mhz while memory could do 200mhz, now with the default clock dividers 150/200 was my max.

If you check the dividers they can be set at different numbers between 1-3. And u can set the divider for Memory, core and Warp clock(whatever that is). If you set the System PLL at say 300, the core divider at 3.00 and memory at 2.00 you would get a card clocked at 100mhz core(300/3.00) and 150mhz mem(300/2.00). I don't know what warp clock is so I just set it at same divider as the core. By changing the dividers I was able to get the card running at 160.2mhz core and 192.24mhz mem with dividers set at 3.00, 2.50 and 3.00. The System PLL is 480.66.

I must say though that I attatched a Celeron PPGA Heatsink instead of the one that came with the card, I had to insert a aluminium plate though between the HS and core because the memory chips was in the way.
With a thermal pad instead to lift the HS up I think I will be able to get a higher core since the heat transfer won't be interfered like it is now with the aluminium plate.

      Cheers

        use a 401 pll

        gclk 2.50
        mclk 2.00
        wclk 2.50

        160/200
