  • My cat was eating the phone cable

No, I´m not kidding. It´s true.

The most amusing part was that I was off-line, I had just installed 5.25 and was benchmarking quake2 and I was getting about 30 fps and wondering WTF. The phone cable somehow shorted and my winmodem was like slowing the system. I don´t even know if that´s possible, but the moment I disconected the cable, all was back to normal. Then I spent half-hour repairing the cable. (but I must get a new one)

Oh my god... And no, I didn´t spank the cat, I love animals

So, next time someone starts complaining about the G400 performance I guess that´s a new item to troubleshoot (after irq conflicts and so on) - please make sure there is no animal eating your phone cable...

Good thing he wasn't chewing on the AC cable, that would've smelled bad (you know, burning cat hair )

My cats are living with my mom now, they'd probably be chewing on my exposed SCSI ribbon cables if they were here
Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. Bastard coated bastards with bastard filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive, bubble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine. -- Dr. Perry Cox

You know- give 'em enough food and the right kind of toys and they tend not to imagine that phone cables are spaghetti noodles.

I once had a wasp in my printer and my unreal FPS went down to 1/s, but that's another story...
