  • G400 MAX and P3-450 O/C to 600 MHz ??

    Hi Friends,
Do any of you use G400MAX in a P3-450 which overclocked to 600 MHz ? Can G400MAX handle 89MHz (2/3 133MHz FSB speed) of AGP clock in AGP2X mode ?
Your information and advice are very much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    I'm using P3-450@580 on an Abit BX6r2.
Run's great in AGP 1x mode, locks in 2x.

Unable to hit 600 due to main memory, or cache memory, or MB, 580's just fine!

Locking at 2x seems due to Abit/G400 combo, as even running @450 results in the same.

With 32 megs on board, I can't think of when AGP 2x would make a difference anyhow...

Someone claimed to be running AGP at 1x, 1:1, 129MHz, I never tried.

I think it is system specific, because I have tried it on a BX6r2, and 2X works just fine. My Bh6@124 fsb does just fine.

        Rags...

What else was in the BX6r2 you tried.
How long did you try it for?

Would like to narrow it down.

It was a brand new board (I was building for a customer), it had a G400DH retail, 128PC100, P2450(it overclocked successfully to 580 @2X), had a Usr sportster 56K internal Isa, a SB live Value OEM, WD 8.4 IDE ATA33, Mitsumi 40X cdrom ATA33, Win98 PD5.13, box drivers for the Live, box drivers for the sportster. Had some productivity software as well.

Some people will get just the right setups and/or luck. But for consistient usage at 133fsb, I think you'll have to wait for some new BX boards coming out, that will have better choices for AGP/PCI settings. I *think* a new abit (be6 II) will have 1/3rd agp choice for most fsbs, but I'm not sure. It will have 1mhz increments from 100 to 200 though

Either that or wait for 820/810e.

I run my G400 on a P3 600 at a 100Mhz FSB but have the AGP divider at 1/1 Runs fine

I think I got lucky with this card though. It also overclocks to 168Mhz Core (and its not even a MAX)
