Interesting... Q2/Q3 scores went up significantly. Overall 3DMark99 score went down, but 32MB texture rendering went up: a whopping +25% (1280x32,AGP1X)... Further more D3D seems smoother than before...

Scytale: They put the 5.13.021 ICD back, which I have been yelling to everyone was faster than the 5.21.017. Nobody listens.

        Rickn, I listen

However.... I forgot to mention that I installed the beta ICD, not likely that this would be the old ICD too, this time relabeled beta...

        Then again... he he

I have the 5.13 ICD from the release 5.13 drivers, and it is the same exact size as the new BETA ICD they just released, and the BETA ICD has a july date stamp.

And so I did. Rickn, something must have gone wrong at your side - the new beta icd is 2135KB and the 5.13 icd is 2122KB. Different dates too... The only odd thing is that the new icd is dated July, 6th.

                Here's the deal...
The 5.25 ICD is identical to the 5.21 ICD, except that vsynch is disabled by default now.

The beta ICD is not the one from 5.13. It's not from any version that was released. It's the same ICD that Matrox sent out to Ant and a couple other sites a while back, and started all the 25% rumors. It is a few months old, and heavily optimized for Q2.

scytale: yeah, i double checked. I had already had that ICD they just released, it was leaked to me by a friend, but it is not new. It is faster than the 5.21 ICD, and it is also buggy

I've found the beta ICD is 10% faster than the 5.13 ICD in Q3Test 1.07..

Too bad I didn't read this post first. Oh well, something interesting- if the 5.13 ICD and the beta are different files (and I don't doubt you guys a bit), Matrox left the same version information in the beta that they used in the 5.13 ICD. Still not complaining, since I, like a few others in here, took a speed hit with 5.21/5.25 (which curiously now, appears to improve only for SOME by disabling vsynch in the registry). In fact, my FPS in Q3 only went up .1 from the 5.21 to the 5.25 drivers, after having gone down by 9.8 FPS when I moved from 5.13 to 5.21. The beta must be a little different, since I notice that my framrates in q3demo1 appear to be ~.7 higher than I got with the 5.13 drivers- consistently.

Later guys, gotta go play with MGATweak.

Had a couple of crashes with the DVD player since installing 5.25 + betaICD. Not sure if its related, but never happened before...

Hmmm... DVD player. I didn't have any problems. I just bought a drive, sans decoder card and was very leary about upgrading the drivers from issues posted in a different topic. I was pleased to find that I have no problems with the new drivers and video tools (I have a G200 Marvel)

I can use either the softDVD or PowerDVD which I purchased. Make sure your drive is set to use DMA in the dvd-drive settings of the System setup.

Whoa! Video Tools work with 5.25? Rainbow Runner/Marvel compatibility? Could this be?

Maybe the Matrox Fairy granted me yet another wish. Gosh, I have to start wishing for stuff unrelated to my computer.

Pity that I am not able to watch copy protected DVDs on my TV anymore.

With any driver newer than 5.11 the tv screen just turns green.

It is really amazing how matrox now interprets macrovision protection
