  • G400 Locks up ... displays garbled graphics

    My Specs.

    Intel PIII 550
    Asus P2B
    G400 32MB AGP MAX
    128Mb RAM
    Latest G400 drivers.
    Latest Asus drivers.
    Win98
    DirectX 6.1
(most BIOS and MATROX setting left on default - no IRQ conflicts)

The above system works great with Creative Labs RIVA TNT 16mb AGP. Stable, fast etc. But it locks up after the matrox has been installed. First of all the card locks up windows (mouse moves but the screen is not available for input). The Techdemo does not work. (I get strange lines running horizontally on the screen). Expendable does not work (kicks me back to the desktop all the time ...occasional OUT OF VIDEO MEMORY ERROR.

I waited three months and 200 quid later and I must say I am almost reduced to tears. Please could someone shed some light. Its about to go in the swimming pool.

    thanks
    Gary

I wish I had a swimming pool. Anyway, try this:

Download the PD5 Reghacks from murc and force AGP1X mode (click the file ForceAGP1X.reg, reboot).
