  • G200 Overclocking??

I know, I know....I still have a Millenium G200. It's still working great, too. I was just playing around and took off the 8meg upgrade to see if it would overclock better, and what'dya know, it does. I was just wondering what the highest speed that anyone around here has reached. I'm using the newest MGATweak and I got to 185 as the main PLL Clock setting. This gives me 92.57 on the GCLK and 123.43 on the MCLK. This increased my 3dMarkMax bench almost 300 points. I'm up to 2791 with a Celly 464a.

I was just wondering what the highest speed that anyone around here has reached?

    Thanks guys/gals.

PS- If I go to 189 my benchmarks go back down to the default speed....hmmmmm??

    hiya

i've been using ps performance tuner for quite a while, and when i tried mga tweak v1.10 build 013, i saw that it was using the same numbers that performance tuner was using, (with the same benchmark results) plus it could load the settings at bootup and not put something in the tray (i hate clutter).

as for the numbers, in mga tweak, pll=198.00, gclk=99.00, mclk=132.00, wclk=99.00 and my 3dmark score is 2225 3d marks, and 2991 cpu marks.

i guess i'm cheating a bit on the g200 o/c. i went out and got a 486 cpu fan for $7, and stuck it on the heatsink. it's always bothered me how hot that thing got even not o/c'ed. it may be that doing the same to yours could make the difference!

If I run 3DMark99 at 800x600x16 on my g200 16 meg millenium on my celeron 300A@464 using MGAtweak Fo PLL=217.8 I get a score of 3062.

BTW- that number is 800x600x16 in 3DmarkMax

Actually, when I fist got my G200 I also bought a Tennmax Lasagna and replaced the original heatsink with it. Today, I attached a small heatsink to the backside, where the pinouts for the chip are, with some "Frag Tape"

        Thanks www.hardocp.com !!

I'm also working on getting heatsinks for the memory chips.

On top of all this, I have an 80mm fan attached to the side of my case blowing air in. Directly onto the vid card...

I wish I had a camera to show this...

Anyway, thanks for the responses. Looks like you guys are doing well.

I've installed a Tennmax cooler directly to my g200 chip with a pentium fan mounted 1/4" away from the opposite side of the chip sucking air away from the chip so as not to blow the heated air from the cpu onto it and then a harddrive cooler pulling air in from the front of the case directly towards the card and cpu via a couple of fabricated pieces of aluminum sheetmetal as ducting, I was able to reach 225 with no screen corruptions but lowered to 210 for longevity
this also works well to cool the case as I have the power supply blowing out, a case fan sucking air in the front bottom of the case and a slot fan also blowing air out to pull air across the front of the g200.
and yes it's a little noisy

I'm running my G200 at 210PLL for 105Graphics clk and 140 Memclk. I get a few artifacts at around 220, so I dropped it down to 210 since it runs clean there. I haven't done any modifications to the big heatsink on chip. I get around 3000 3d marks with that setup and the normal 800x600x16 settings. Anyone get substantially higher with a cooling fan on the chip, since mine seems to do damned well with just the heatsink? My case also stays 1C above ambiant due to a couple big case fans.

            Oh yeah, AMD K6-III 450, Epox MVP3G-M rev 1.0, 256mb pc133 sdram, plus other stuff,and stable AGP 2x
