I see it's an LX board? which make/model? Some Asus boards, from what I remember, have trouble supplying the right voltage. Maybe someone else can help here?

Also, check for IRQ conflicts, and check the fan is spinning on the MAX. The heat given out of the MAX can be quite a lot, so the ambient temp of your system may have gone up. Check for overheating.

        Cheers,

PS: Some or all of the above message may be wrong, or, just as likely, correct. Depends on what mood I'm in. And what you know. ;¬)

Go into your mother board bios and disable any of the following:

          VGA BIOS Shadow
          VGA frame buffer
          full frame buffer
          primary frame buffer
          Cache Rd+CPU Wt Pipeline
          pipeline caching, or byte merging

Also try forcing AGP 1x via the Reg Hacks.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. Bastard coated bastards with bastard filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive, bubble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine. -- Dr. Perry Cox

Try to enable busmastering but force AGP1X (using the PD5 reghacks from murc).

                  Hey Morpheus,

Yes it matters a lot. Without BM, G400 performance is close to a G200 with BM... so BM+AGP1X is definitely worth trying.

You better check for hardware conflicts. If you can't find any, take out all cards except for AGP, keep BM enabled and see if it will work.

Your default AGP mode will probably be AGP2X, you can check with PCIlist or Sandra.

I also have problems with busmastering.
but maybe there will be salvation.
                            see first link.
cant wait to get home and try it out.

                            thanks to all you guys!
