  • NEW matrox product announcement!!

    http://www.ga-source.com/all/news/bi...15:39:51.shtml

Just love to add my "voice" to rumor mongering!

Ya know, with the release of Intel's Camino/i820 chipset coming September 27th, perhaps Matrox will be announcing a "G400 plus" w/ AGP 4x support.

Perhaps I'll end up being happy that I waited to get a G400.

Think about it for a second. There has already been two cards rumored and talked about for some time now. Matrox has not made any official announcement about them yet, but we all knew they where coming.

We are still waiting for "official" product announcements and specs for the G400 Marvel, and the RT2000 (high-end video editor kit), which Ant had a news blurb about a few weeks ago. Somehow, I suspect this big announcement will relate to one of these cards.

This may be an "official" new product announcement, but I think it'll be mostly old news to most of us here

Seems odd that they would go to great costs to fly people in from all over just for the Marvel G400 and the Marvel G400 on steriods.

If I remember correctly, the G400 today doesn't do AGP 4x- and that the AGP 4x connector is different than the 1 and 2x. Is this right? Timing sure seems good to announce a 4x product. After all- wasn't the G400 chip designed w/ 4x in mind?

            You remember partially correctly-
The G400s we have now will run on 4x mobos. The slot is different, but the G400 can fit in either type. Matrox will not claim that G400 can do 4x transfers now, because camino is not out yet, so they cannot test it.

And who knows...maybe they have more to announce than just a couple of cards...

Maybe they are going to announce that they are merging with PCChips, and IDT.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. Bastard coated bastards with bastard filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive, bubble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine. -- Dr. Perry Cox

My favourite is Trees and Leaves.

Especially considering that tree demo NVIDIA is pushing as a benchmark.

                              3.5 fps, woo hoo!
