I wonder if this is the cause of the low supply of G400's:

I've had experience with FedEX - no trouble for me, no crushed boxes or anything, just they don't take too kindly when you ignore the import duty....
I had my G400 delivered via UPS, and it did get to me a bit crushed, but the card was OK. It was retail boxed, then inside another huge box with loads of packaging, and still the retail box was damaged.

I have worked for UPS as a Fleet Manager for 12 years and currently work for Fed Ex as Senior Vehicle Mechanic. Much less stress and still married.

Anyway, Fed Ex does about 3.3 Million Packages a day while UPS does 3 to 4 times that amount per day. Both places have an emphasis on performance and packing loads as tightly as possible to save space, especially on aircraft.

While there is no intention to damage anything, it's no wonder that some people get disappointed. Both have an overgoods location where damaged or goods with no shipping information go, in hopes of matching up with a claim. Both have dishonest people that may work for them. Both charge the stations for damaged or lost merchandise, so it goes against their operating cost.

As far as UPS goes, they recently got handed a large fine for their offshore Overseas Partners Limited, started in the early 80's. The .25 cents per $100 that they charged for insuring packages, which was twice the accepted industry standard, went into this account. Subtract claims, whats left over was profit. And it was alot of profit, and possibly the way it was done was frowned upon by the IRS, hence the fine.

The only advice I can give is call, and keep asking to go up a notch if you are not happy. If not, write a letter to their corporate headquarters. One of the worst things a manager at either place can have is answering to a complaint that comes down from the corporate office, rather than handling it at the customer service level.

Thanks for the advice, scomp. I'm good at writing letters. Haven't failed yet in getting the desired result when I go to the top.

I'm never buying anything from Dabs since they let mew down on a majorly important server hard drive order. In the end I had to drive to simply computers in london to pick it up - thank god they stay open late!
