HI SOMETiMES I GO AWAY FOR LONG TIME AND COME BACK YEARS LATER HI!

UT came out for Glide first because the Voodoo3 3000 came with a coupon for Unreal Tournament once it was released, as a promo for the card. Epic admitted as much somewhere (can't remember where).
I put back in my V2 SLI rig to play the demo. I was not aware of a decent GLide wrapper for Matrox cards. I'll try it on my G400 MAX tonight sometime.
As for the game itself, UT is awesome - and dare I say, better than Q3A. V2 SLI in 1024x768 is great.
As for the delay on other APIs, the only one I care about is the DirectX one, as the G400's D3D performance is pretty good. Epic's waiting on MS to release DX7 so they can release the D3D version of the demo. Apparently, they really don't want to release it prior to DX7.
I'll try it out on the G400, and I'll see if I can get the URLs to info I've posted here.

Yes, think about when he must sign a check or something...
Well now... I always thought UT was to have it's 3d engine re-written, so it would adapt easier to OGL and D3D...
I was wrong. UT is just a faselift for Unreal with some xtra mods : /

Nah, that's ok. I really don't need a long floppy sig hanging out like that. Perfectly happy with mine being neat and well groomed.
Eh, I kinda liked Unreal but i'm kinda a ditz, so...
UT is downloadable? Everything going to these 'arenas' (q3) and 'tournaments'. I coulda sworn that Unreal worked on non-Glide cards even early on but i might be wrong.Ami Y. Koriuchi - MY EMAIL IS DEAD

There will be a second, "full" UT demo released in the next few days- as soon as Microsoft officially releases DX7.
Speaking of "French or Quebecois maids", I called the Quebec tourism number about a year ago and talked to a French speaking woman. Her voice/accent made me melt in my chair. It was all I could do to think up more questions to keep her on the line...

No URLs, but I did fiddle about with the wrappers last night.
- MGlide doesn't work. Dies with an error on setup.
- Unified DOES work, BUT... runs it in a window - D'OH! And I've set it to be fullscreen. It is quite playable at 800x600 (desktop is at 1280x1024@32bit - both). Not only that, It plays on the SECOND HEAD via Unified.
- Software mode looks worse than Unified, however it too runs. It locked up on me in software mode, though. Same as Unified - windowed mode can run on either head.
Either way, UT looks absolutely, positively GORGEOUS in 32bit color. Makes the V2's look positively plain. AND the motion blur from the V2's is gone under Unified/softwa
re. I'm hoping they do a great job on the DX7 implementation of the engine. I'd much rather play in 32bit than 16bit for UT.
The .sig is there so people don't think I'm talking out my ass. :-)
